Networking Mistake 1- 'I am So Important'

You are important. You are special and unique and brave and clever and nice.

But so is the person you are talking to.

Another person feeling powerful and important doesn’t make you any less powerful and important – there is enough cake for everyone.

I know we are trying to promote ourselves and big ourselves up, but let’s try to do it in a way that doesn’t make other people feel like they are lesser.

Try to notice if you are talking about yourself too much, pause and let other people talk. When they tell you about their achievements, listen and act suitably impressed.

We all love praise, so let’s be generous with it!
